Guitar Hero.....

Jack loves to play Guitar Hero with Daddy on the Wii. He actually is pretty on target with the beat and rhythm and hits a few notes correctly on each song. In the video he's "rocking out" to GNR Welcome to the Jungle.... we're so proud... ;-)

The World According to Jack

Jack is in Waco for a long weekend with Nanny & Pop. We received an email from Nanny last night detailing Jack's bedtime antics that made us laugh out loud. Hope it makes you smile too.

From Nanny:
"Okay, Jack has cracked me up tonight with his monologue as I laid on my bed waiting for him to go to sleep on his bed - put the mattress in our room again. There was some dialogue at first, then I'd tell him no more talking. Yea, right."

J: Where's Pop?
N: He's reading the paper.
J: I know why he's reading the paper. P'tause that's one of his chores.

J: I have an eyelash on me. An eyelash is like a booger but it's not a booger.

J: I think I hear the piano. Maybe it's the television. I'm going to see if
it's the television or the piano.
N: No, it's pop. You need to be quiet. We're going to sleep.
J: I hear it. It's pop. Is he playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star or Baylor
Bears?

"He finally went on to sleep after about 40 minutes of chatting."

Vrrrroooom !!!

After a weeklong obsession with watching CARS and his hero, Lightening McQueen, Jack was finally motivated to not only get in his #8 Dale Jr racecar, but actually drive it too. While it took nearly 6 months to get him in the car, it was equally hard to get him out. He had an absolute blast today driving all over the yard, the sportcourt and even through the gate and over to Henry's house next door. He made Mommy & Daddy work the pits and had us fueling and changing tires "in the pits" for hours. Not one to typically wear sunglasses for more than a few minutes, today he had his "race car sunglasses" on for driving. His breaks from driving the Dale Jr #8 car were filled with hitting golf balls with several clearing the fence!

To think this all started with Carl taking us to a NASCAR race in Joliet, Illinois back in 2002. Who would have ever thought that a casual curiosity and a free ticket from Kraft would lead to this... our NASCAR loving (nearly) 3-year old. While watching any race, he can spot the logos on the cars going 185 MPH, calling them out - plus the driver & the number, like "Jimmie Johnson, the Lowe's car, number 48"... I kid you not. The list includes Dale Jr, Johnson, Tony Stewart, the Jack (Daniels) car, and the M&M's car (can't tell him who drives that b/c Mommy & Daddy don't like Kyle Busch).

Teacher's Pet

Jack started back to school on Tuesday (Hallelujer!). We adore his new teachers Miss Margaret & Miss Emily. So far, his favorite thing about school has been the red #19 racecar that he immediately discovered when entering the classroom on the 1st day. His teachers almost passed out when he correctly identified the number 19.
Yes, we are aware that he's a genius. Mensa testing will begin in October.

What a big boy!!!

Just a little comparison between this year & last year...

Tagged

So I was tagged by Sarah to list 6 quirks. Only 6?!? Here goes:

1. I put dollar bills in my wallet in ascending numerical order, all facing in the same direction. If a clerk hands me bills in change all willy-nilly, I stand there and organize them until they're facing the correct way in the right order.

2. I cannot start watching a movie part of the way through. Has to be start to finish or nothing at all.

3. If I start a book, I have to finish it. Even if it stinks (like my choice for book club, "Love in the Time of Cholera").

4. When putting my groceries on the belt at the check-out line, I group them together by category: all of the frozen stuff together, produce, etc. My hope being that they'll bag it that way and it will be easier to put away when I get home. That or I have OCD.

5. Every piece of clothing and shoes in my closet are sorted by color.

6. Like Suzanne, I cannot stand to hear people chew, crunch or munch when they're eating. Study hall at the Chi-O house was a living hell for me between the ice crunching and chip munching. No wonder my grades were so poor my 1st semester (yeah, I'm sure that was it).

I tag Laura. You're it!

Two Mommies in The Big Apple

Had an absolute blast tagging along on Sarah's work trip to NYC! Man, I love her job! We were in the city Tuesday thru Friday. It was Sarah's first time to leave Blakeley and she was a champ. We fit in lots of shopping and eating and even saw The Little Mermaid on Broadway (followed by a yummy dinner and (most importantly) dessert at Serendipity - 2nd pic below). Sarah's work event included two suites at a Yankees/Red Sox game. Lucky me - I got to be her date! It was great to spend time with Sarah and have a mini-vacation. Thanks for taking me, Tank!

"Just Like Daddy"

I dropped Jack off at Lost Creek Country Club "Kids' Day Out" program so that I could run a few toddler-free errands. When I returned, I saw Jack across the room and immediately noticed that his chin was black. I thought, "Hmmm. Wonder what he jumped off of." When Jack finally saw me, he excitedly ran over and yelled,
Mommy, Mommy, Look! I have a beard - just like Daddy!!!
Apparently, he decided to draw on himself rather than the paper provided during art time. He did draw a beard like Daddy. It was brown. And it was a little goatee, just like Mark grows on weekends and vacations! Hilarious. Daddy loved it.

Academy Award Nominee

So, Jack can be a tad dramatic at times, especially when brushing his teeth. To be more precise, the drama takes place when spitting after he's done. He spits the same way, each time. Makes me laugh outloud every day. Hopefully, this performance will bring a smile to your face too.

Jack's First Baseball Game!!

This weekend to help celebrate Landon's 6th Birthday we all went to Minute Maid Park and Jack attended his very first baseball game - - the Astros hosting the Chicago Cubs. He got to see several of his favorite players in person: "Berkman" "Hunter" and "Fukudome." And since both Jack and Daddy are fans of both teams it was only fitting we left in the 8th in a 1-1 tie (Hunter Pence won it for Houston in the 9th).
