1st Day of School

Jack had an awesome first day of school yesterday. We'll let him tell you about it....

Back Nine

Sunday, Jack met up with Daddy on the 9th green to play the entire back 9 with him and Henry's dad, Matt (aka "Mr. Matt" our next door neighbor). He started out by hitting the green on his first shot on the 10th, then made a 10 on the Par 5 11th hole starting on the front tees (255 yards). That included getting up & down in 2 from the greenside bunker. Yes, he got out of the bunker with his 7-iron and 1-putted the green.

He had an absolute blast, usually playing from the 150-yd marker in. He learned some ettiquete as it's hard to stay still and quiet when you're nearly 4. After the 18th, he told us he beat us both and wanted to go to the range to hit more balls (we went home, old guys were tired).

So happy he loves golf.

"I'm excited about our baby......but I'm more excited about
Chuck E. Cheese!"

(Jack said to Nanny on the way to Chuck E. Cheese.)

Camp GrandMary & GrandPat

Jack's cousins, Laurel and Landon, spent 6 days in Austin last week. GrandMary and GrandPat planned lots of fun activities for the kids. From swimming to Putt-Putt, all had an excellent time. We especially loved visiting family friend Gavin at his firehouse!

GrandMary ordered a cookie cake for the firemen. In red and orange icing it said, "Firemen are Hot!" While this mortified her son, the rest of us thought it was pretty funny.

A "Wicked" good time...

....was had by all on a recent couples night out. After dinner at Vivo, we headed to Bass Concert Hall to see the musical "Wicked". Thanks to our social coordinator, Laura, for organizing a fabulous evening!

"The Girls": Laura, Crystal, Dawn, Amy & Stacey
"The Boys": Guy, Daniel, Wes, Mark & Sam (and some of Vivo's notorious artwork)

Crispix

As Jack was eating breakfast this morning (1 bowl of Crispix + 1 bowl of Cheerios) he informed us with excitement as he read the box, "Did you know it's Crispy Rice on one side and Crunchy Corn on the other?!"

Landon is 7!

Landon's birthday celebration (a week after his actual birthday, which he spent vacationing in Colorado) was sportacular! Landon had Coach Jones from West U Elementary back for an encore sports games birthday party. All of the boys had a great, sweaty time.
No birthday cake here - just cold Blue Bell ice cream to help the young sports stars cool down....
I'm not sure that Jack could've had any more fun. He played baseball with his dad and cousins many times throughout the weekend. Here's a shot I got of him after one of his outdoor excursions. He looked and smelled like all boy here. I lost count of how many showers this kid had throughout the weekend. But THIS took the cake! On Saturday evening, we went to The Chocolate Bar, otherwise known as Heaven. Check out the piece of Aunt Etta's cake that Mark and I split (not evenly - I am eating for 2 after all!). This $9.95 slice of yumminess chased by ice cold milk is truly one of the Top 10 desserts I've ever had. Jessica is under strict instructions to stop by The Chocolate Bar on her way to Austin when Baby #2 makes his/her debut. (Seriously, Jess. No cake, no baby.)

Family vacation in San Antonio

Sea World was fun as always, but we made a new discovery in the heat: The Wave Pool! Jack didn't want to get out. After 5 hot hours at Sea World, we checked into the Westin La Cantera. When we entered our room, Jack yelled, "This. Is. AWESOME!" And it was. What a great place. From S'Mores at the outdoor fire pit to the water slide...
We also got to see Mimi Carolyn, Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Cheryl! Jack is already plotting a round of golf with Uncle Jimmy at Thanksgiving. He wanted to sit in Uncle Jimmy's lap after dinner. Jack. Sit? That is love.

Hole-in-One !

During my trip to Palm Springs (36-holes a day), I got my first ace on the 186-yard 12th hole at Indian Wells (6-iron). We didn't see it go in and no one knew it was even close to the hole because there were 4 bunkers in front of the hole, and it was 115-degrees and our 29th hole of the day! Once we walked up on the green and didn't see the ball, someone said, "look in the cup" and that's where it was!!

On the previous hole, my shot bounced off a hill into a pond and since the water was crystal clear and I was hot, I took off my shoes and went in to get it. The next hole, that same ball took 2 hops and into the hole and now it sits safely in my golf ball trophy case!

Along with the 3 witnesses (Randy, Kyle & Bart), we also go it on video too.

And Jack and Mommy were waiting with a golf ball cake to celebrate when I returned:

Bedtime conversation

While I was snuggling with Jack at bedtime tonight, out of the blue he asked me,
"Mommy, How did you get pregnant?"

Mommy: (Uh. Stall. Hmmm. Wasn't expecting that one.)

Mommy: "Well, Jack, Mommy & Daddy love each other so much that God decided to bless our family with another baby."

Jack: "Oh. Ok."

(Pause)

Jack: "Mommy, your face is getting fat."
