Golf with Daddy

Amy brought Jack out to meet me on the back 9 today and he played the last 7 holes in with me and Randy Howard. He did such a great job listening and following directions, learning etiquette and he hit a bunch of really great shots. He also learned that the beverage cart has Gatorade and snacks!

104

102 - High temp in Austin today

103 - Jack's temperature Monday night

104
- what Jack counted to for me while trying to get him to go to sleep. He told me, "Daddy I did the most amazing, smart thing just now and you were downstairs and didn't hear me. I counted to one hundred and four. " And then he proceeded to do it for me. 1 to 104... and then made it up to 124.

Good news is, his fever is gone and he cheered on Texas tonight. His knowledge of baseball is pretty solid already, and he knows the roster of the Longhorns - by reading it on ESPN (not by me forcing it). It's pretty amazing watching sports with him as he routinely reads the scrolling bottom line on ESPN and tells me "Oh, the Brewers have 5" and other random stats he reads.

yeah, he's a pretty cool kid.

CWS

Friday I got to enjoy a great baseball game in Omaha at the College World Series. 2 home runs in the 9th to win it and put UT in the finals against LSU. Wish I could stay...

Omaha and Rosenblatt are such a unique setting for a NCAA Championship. I had one guy tell me, "I was pulling for Arizona State, but that was so amazing I'm going to buy at Texas shirt now."

2010 is the last year of Rosenblatt before moving to a new downtown stadium. Glad I got to go to the old ballpark one more time.

Par 10?

I took Jack out on the "big course" Thursday evening to play 3 holes. He got a 10 on the 11th hole from the 250-yard marker. Not bad for a 3-year old. He hit 6 with his 3 wood, 2 7-irons (1 chip) and a legit 2-putt. I think from 250-yards a 10 is a par for a 3 year old!!

The Birthday Girl
Cute CousinsJess & Cam got their money's worth out of the bouncy water slide rental! Little and big kids had a great time sliding and having water gun fights hours before party time.
A kid at heart....
Cam reveals the secret to the tastiest burger ever....50% fat in the meat! Forget lean meat, the artery-clogging stuff is the way to go. And the sweetest pic of the weekend.....Landon reading to Jack at bedtime.

Jack's First Trophy

Jack receiving his first trophy from Coach Allison (one of Jack's many girlfriends) at the Champions gymnastics "recital" (aka a regular class set to music!).
Jack is so proud of his trophy ("I was the winner!"). He carried his trophy everywhere we went for the next 48 hours.....
With best pals Claire and Abby. "We - are - Champions!

Mother's Day 2009

Although it wasn't a dream Mother's Day (Mark woke up with a stomach bug, Jack had an epic tantrum that brought us both to tears when I tried to take him to lunch, and Champ ate the Mother's Day handprint craft Jack made for me at church), I still feel so blessed to have Jack as my son, Nanny as my mom and a new baby growing in my belly! I am a lucky girl.

Bend It Like.....Brady?

Look at our adorable little Lost Creek Lion! Looks like a natural, right?
The mighty Lost Creek Lions!Jack's most recent game. Lost Creek Lions in white. Check out the size of the other team! We were on the sidelines demanding birth certificates - there's no way these kids should've been in the "kinder" league. Their team was running plays while the Lost Creek Lions were wondering, "Which goal are we supposed to kick it to?"So, here's a typical game for Jack....He practices with the team 15 minutes prior to kickoff. He does great - totally into it. Then, it's game time. He runs in with the team and immediately after kickoff, slumps over and is "too tired" to play (see below). The game goes on without him as he remains slumped in the middle of the field.
A pep talk from Coach David doesn't even help. Anyone know a good sports psychologist?
