Fireman Jack

Fireman Jack

Jack had one of the best days ever today. The Westlake Fire Dept. brought a truck to the library this morning. The kids got Westlake Fire Dept. tattoos & stickers, got to climb in the firetruck and even try on the firemen's gear. The slideshow above shows all of the pics, but here's one of my favorites. Note how my 2 year old is holding an axe. Yup, those firemen are all about safety!

Happy 60th Birthday Party Mom/Nanny!

While her actual birthday isn't until July 15th, we celebrated Mom/Nanny's 60th Birthday today in Waco at a cute tearoom called The Mix. With 15 friends, a yummy lunch, and cupcakes delivered by Jack and Dad/Pop, it was a great event! Happy 60th, Mom!

Happy Father's Day

"Happy Father's Day" was the first thing Jack told me this morning as he climbed in bed to rest a little more before going to Howdy Donut with his Nanny. We enjoyed a great day with Jack and both of his grandfathers. Amy made a "feast" for brunch, but first Jack and Daddy had to go to the golfing course!! After brunch was more golf - watching the US Open and playing in the backyard.

Petite YaYa's

Jack got to meet his YaYa "cousins" Ainsley & Gage Loredo on Friday! Here they are with Baby Blakeley (far right). The babies are all getting so big! What a fun day - thanks for hosting Sarah & Blakeley!

Scottsdale Golf Trip

Back from Scottsdale after playing 123 holes of golf on 7 courses in 4 days. Yes, that is a lot of golf and 9-10 hours in the desert sun each day is also plenty! We played ASU Karsten, Troon North, Grayhawk, Eagle Mountain and Talking Stick - all in agreement that Eagle Mountain was the most fun. No snake sightings, but we did see thousands of rabbits, lizzards, prairie dogs and one coyote in a sandtrap.

Sea World

Jack and Mommy took an impromptu trip to Sea World on Thursday. From feeding the dolphins to the Shamu show (Jack and Mommy's fave), we had 5 straight hours of fun. Does this look like a happy kid or what?

On the way back to Austin, we stopped at a Rudy's near Sea World to fuel up (us and the Tahoe). We parked the car and as we walked into Rudy's, I asked Jack if he would like a lemonade for the ride home. He replied, "Oh no, Mommy. I want a BEER!" Got a strange look from a man passing by.

Feeding the dolphins (oh, what a Mommy will do for her boy!):

Jack has apparently inherited the "Map Gene" from his Daddy. That trait of having to know the "you are here" point on the map at all times. It's crazy - I brought the Sea World map home and Jack can point out the location of the Shamu show, the ski show, the Clydesdale horse stable (along with the names of the horses: Bud, Busch and Diamond)....

The New Playground Opens!!

After a month of construction to replace our old park equipment with a new, safer playground structure, Jack finally got to play at today's grand re-opening. The neighborhood mom's club has spent the last year getting support, funding and selecting a company to build the new playground and they did a great job. Now there are 2 separate play areas so the big kids and little kids aren't on the same (ie. dangerous) structure.

Jack had lots of fun checking out all the new stuff to play on and really liked the 'bumpy slide' (rollers), and swinging on the monkey bars. Also, he no longer will be skinning up his knees on the rocks and pebbles at the playground as the new design is soft mulch.
